In Estonia, where crisis wage compensations in June were paid for a third consecutive month, 136,709 workers have received a total of 231 million euros during the quarter.
Average subsidy and most-supported industries.
The average size of the subsidy was 703.2 euros and companies in the accomodation, catering and manufacturing sectors of the economy received the largest number compensations.
The head of the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund Meelis Paavel commented that from the point of view of the economy, wage compensations helped avoid a sharp recession and also softened the shock on employment. He added: «If most companies can continue with the support of wage compensations, then this measure has proven itself.»
A total of 17,584 companies applied for compensation for 137,399 employees, ERR reports.
