Latvia objects to Russian Duma’s switch on Molotov-Ribbentrop pact

On 18 June 2020, the Latvian Foreign Ministry’s Political Director, Jānis Mažeiks, met with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Latvia, Yevgeny Lukyanov (Лукьянов Евгений Владимирович) to present Latvia’s position on draft legislation now pending in Russia’s State Duma, that would aim to revoke resolution No. 979-1 of 24 December 1989 adopted by the Congress of People’s Deputies of the USSR that condemned the secret protocol of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.
