There is a big philosophical difference between the U.K. and EU in the Brexit talks over their future relationship, said Michael Gove, the U.K. Cabinet Office minister.
The third round of talks ended last week with few signs of any real progress toward a deal between the two sides. Gove claimed the talks were going “well” but with a “proviso”
“There’s a big difference, a philosophical difference, between the position that we take and the position the European Commission takes,” he told the BBC’s Andrew Marr Show. “The European Commission want us to follow the rules even though we’ve left the club and the European Commission want to have the same access to our fish when we were in the EU even though we’re out.”
“The challenge for the EU is to show just a little bit of their fabled flexibility,” he further added.
