The selection commission composed to pick the next head of Latvia’s Competition Council has decided to pick nine out of twelve contenders who applied for the position for the second phase of the selection process, as reported by the state Chancellery.
In the second phase of the process contenders will explain to members of the commission their motivation to take this post, answer questions about the structure of state administration and basic principles of its operations, budget planning, organization of administrative processes within the institution and the field of operations of the Competition Council. They will also present their vision for the institution’s priorities and development in the next five years, as the State Chancellery explains.
Contenders who make it to the third phase will be evaluated based on their management competence: strategic vision, awareness of organizational values, ability to make decisions and take on responsibility, result orientation and team management.
At the end of the selection process, the contender to receive the most points will be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers for approval.
At the head of the commission is the director of Latvia’s State Chancellery Jānis Citskovskis. The commission itself consists of: Finance Ministry’s state secretary Baiba Bāne, State Revenue Service’s director general Ieva Jaunzeme, Economy Ministry’s state secretary Edmunds Valantis and Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry board member Katrīna Zariņa. Meetings are also attended by members of the Latvian Finance Industry Association and Latvian Employers’ Confederation with advisory rights.
